Michelle grew up in Rotorua, studied her Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours at Te Piringa Faculty of Law at the University of Waikato whilst working at the Rotorua Crown Solicitor’s office, before moving to Tauranga in 2021 to begin practicing in law.
Deciding to pursue family law came about after volunteering at the Waiariki Women’s Refuge on the Crisis Line and meeting family lawyers through this role. She has specialised in Family Law since being admitted to the bar and is happy to have found her niche.
Michelle would love to help you achieve the best possible results in any family law matter, including:
- Relationship property division on separation, including negotiating and advising on division of assets
- Contracting Out Agreements (“pre-nups”) and asset protection
- Care of children (parenting and “custody”), guardianship issues, and related Court proceedings
- Protection Orders (obtaining or defending) and related family violence matters including Court proceedings
- Applications under the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act 1988 (“PPPR Act”), such as for the appointment of a property manager and/or welfare guardian to manage the affairs of an incapacitated person where no Enduring Power of Attorney (“EPOA”) is in place
- Paternity issues
- Adoption and surrogacy
- Dissolution of marriage (“divorce”)
With clear communication and great organisational skills, Michelle can help you get through what can sometimes be a tough time.
