The Fair Trading Act offers you protection, by making it illegal for a business to provide you with their unsolicited (meaning, not requested by you) product and then demand that you pay them for it, or that you return it to them by a certain date to avoid a payment obligation.
Recently the Commerce Commission issued a warning to garden bag businesses that had delivered garden bags to various homes, with a demand for an annual fee if the homeowners did not return the garden bags by a particular date.
Know your rights. Where you receive a product or service, you did not request, you are not obliged to pay for it or to return it.
